My Love, the City of Ahn Jung-geun

나의 사랑, 안중근의 도시

 

* Hello, I’m Kim Yeonhwa.

안녕, 나는 김연화야.

 

I live in Harbin, the Ice City.

나는 얼음의 도시 하얼빈에 살아.

 

It is famous for the coldest winter in China.

하얼빈은 중국에서 겨울에 가장 추운 곳으로 유명해.

 

It’s also famous for the largest ice and snow show in the world.

또한 세계에서 가장 큰 얼음과 눈 쇼가 열리는 것으로도 유명하지.

 

* To many Korean-Chinese, Harbin is the city of Ahn Jung-geun.

많은 조선족들에게 하얼빈은 안중근의 도시이지.

 

It has two special halls for this hero.

하얼빈에는 이 영웅을 위한 두 개의 기념관이 있어.

 

The old one is in the Joseon Art Museum, and the new one is in Harbin Station.

오래된 기념관은 조선민족예술관에 있고, 새 기념관은 하얼빈역에 있어.

 

In the new hall, you can see his photos and famous writings.

새 기념관에서는 안중근 의사의 사진과 유명한 글을 볼 수 있어.

 

* The new hall has a special clock.

새로운 기념관에는 특별한 시계도 있어.

 

Do you see the clock on the outside of the building?

건물 밖에 걸려 있는 시계가 보이니?

 

What time is it?

몇 시지?

 

It’s 9:30.

9시 30분이야.

 

The hands don’t move because the clock tells the time of his action.

시계 바늘은 움직이지 않아. 그 시계는 그의 의거 당시의 시간을 알려 주고 있기 때문이야.

 

* When I think of Ahn Jung-geun, I read Yun Dong-ju’s Counting the Stars at Night.

나는 안중근 의사를 생각할 때면, 윤동주 시인의 ‘별 헤는 밤’을 읽곤 해.

 

It is full of love for Korea, and I like it a lot.

그 시에는 한국에 대한 사랑이 가득해서 나는 그 시가 정말 좋아.

 

They are so far away,

As the stars are.

And Mother,

You are far away in Bukgando.

이네들은 너무나 멀리 있습니다.

별이 아스라이 멀 듯이.

어머님,

그리고 당신은 멀리 북간도에 계십니다.

 

* You know what?

그거 아니?

 

Bukgando is not far from Harbin, and Yun Dong-ju lived there when he was young.

북간도는 하얼빈에서 멀지 않아. 그리고 윤동주 시인은 어렸을 때 그곳에 살았어.

 

I’m proud that I was born in Bukgando.

나는 북간도에서 태어난 것이 자랑스러워.

 

I’m also proud that I live in Harbin, the city of Ahn Jung-geun.

또한, 나는 안중근 의사의 도시, 하얼빈에서 살고 있는 것이 자랑스러워.
