런치 레이디 탄생하다
My name is Hojin, and I like to make graphic novels.
내 이름은 호진이고 나는 만화 소설 쓰는 것을 좋아한다.

 

While I was walking home

from school last week, I saw a woman on a scooter.
나는 지난주에 학교에서 집으로 걸어가는 중에 스쿠터에 탄 한 여자를 봤다.
She looked really cool, and her scooter was very unique.
그녀는 정말 멋져 보였고 그녀의 스쿠터는 정말 독특했다.
“Are you going home, Hojin?” she said to me suddenly.
“집에 가는 거니, 호진아?” 갑자기 그녀가 나에게 말했다.
“Yes, but do I know you?” I asked.
“네, 그런데 저를 아시나요?” 나는 물었다.
“Of course,” she answered.
“당연하지,” 그녀는 대답했다.
“I see you at the school cafeteria every day.”
“나는 매일 학교 식당에서 너를 본단다.”
Surprisingly, she was one of the cafeteria workers at school.
놀랍게도, 그녀는 학교 식당 직원 중 한 분이었다.
“Amazing!
‘굉장하다!
She looks so different outside the school,” I thought.
학교 밖에서는 정말 달라 보이시네,’라고 나는 생각했다.
“I should write a graphic novel about her.”
‘그녀에 대한 만화 소설을 써야겠다.’
After I got home, I began to write a new graphic novel, Lunch Lady Begins.
집에 도착한 후에, 나는 《런치 레이디 탄생하다》라는 만화 소설을 쓰기 시작했다.
In it, Lunch Lady is a superhero.
이 소설에서, 런치 레이디는 슈퍼히어로다.
She rides a super scooter that can fly.
그녀는 날 수 있는 슈퍼 스쿠터를 탄다.

 

 

She saves people from danger around the world.
그녀는 전 세계의 위험에 빠진 사람들을 구한다.
She also makes 100 cookies per second and gives them away to hungry children.
또한, 그녀는 1초에 100개의 쿠키를 만들고 그것들을 배고픈 어린이들에게 나눠 준다.
A few days later, I showed my graphic novel to my friends.
며칠이 지나, 나는 내 만화 소설을 친구들에게 보여 주었다.
“Awesome! I love this superhero.
“굉장해! 나는 이 슈퍼히어로가 마음에 들어.
She’s so cool,” said all my friends.
그녀는 정말 멋져.”라고 내 모든 친구가 말했다.
“Guess what?
“그게 있지?
I modeled her on Ms. Lee, one of our cafeteria workers,” I told them.
그 슈퍼히어로는 우리 학교 식당에서 일하시는 분 중 한 분인 이 조리사님을 모델로 한 거야.”라고 나는 친구들에게 말했다.
I showed my book to Ms. Lee.
나는 내 책을 이 조리사님께 보여드렸다.
She loved it, too.
그녀도 그것을 좋아했다.
She also told me about her coworkers who had special talents.
그녀는 내게 특별한 재능을 가진 그녀의 동료들에 대해서도 말했다.
Ms. Park, another cafeteria worker, won a dancing contest.
또 다른 학교 식당 직원인 박 조리사님은 춤 경연 대회에서 우승했다.
Mr. Kim, the janitor at our school, was once an adventurous park ranger.
우리 학교 관리인인 김 선생님은 한때 모험심 있는 공원 관리인이었다.
“I’d like to write superhero stories about them.
“저는 그분들에 관한 슈퍼히어로 이야기를 쓰고 싶어요.
Do you think they’ll like that?” I asked Ms. Lee.
그분들이 그것을 좋아할까요?” 나는 이 조리사님께 물었다.
“Of course they will,” she said cheerfully.
“당연히 좋아할 거야,”라고 그녀는 쾌활하게 말했다.
“Let’s go and say hello to our new superhero friends.”
“가서 우리의 새로운 슈퍼히어로 친구들에게 인사를 하자.”
