A Trip to Mongolia

몽골 여행

 

* This year, I had a special summer because I visited Mongolia for the first time.

올해 나는 처음으로 몽골을 방문해서 특별한 여름을 보냈다.

 

My friend Altan is from Mongolia.

내 친구 알탕은 몽골 출신이다.

 

His grandmother invited me to Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia.

그의 할머니는 나를 몽골의 수도, 울란바타르에 초대하셨다.

 

* After a four-hour flight from Seoul, Altan and I arrived at Chinggis Khaan International Airport in Ulaanbaatar.

서울에서부터 네 시간의 비행 후, 알탕과 나는 칭기즈 칸 국제공항에 도착했다.

 

It took thirty minutes by taxi from the airport to Altan’s grandmother’s house.

공항에서 알탕의 할머니 댁까지 택시로 30분 걸렸다.

 

* Her house is a ger, a traditional Mongolian house.

그녀의 집은 몽골의 전통적인 집인 게르다.

 

It is a big tent, but it is cozy inside.

그것은 큰 텐트지만, 내부는 아늑하다.

 

When we entered, something smelled wonderful.

우리가 들어갔을 때, 뭔가 좋은 냄새가 났다.

 

It was from the khorkhog that she was cooking for us.

그것은 그녀가 우리를 위해 요리하고 있던 호르호그에서 나는 냄새였다.

 

Khorkhog is a Mongolian barbecue.

호르호그는 몽골식 바비큐다.

 

It is made of lamb and cooked with hot stones.

그것은 양고기로 만들어지고 뜨거운 돌로 요리된다.

 

I was moved when Altan said Mongolians serve khorkhog to special guests.

알탕이 몽골인들은 특별한 손님에게 호르호그를 대접한다고 말했을 때 나는 감동을 받았다.

 

It was so delicious that I asked for more.

그것은 매우 맛있어서 나는 더 달라고 부탁했다.

 

After dinner, Altan and I went outside to see the night sky.

저녁 식사 후, 알탕과 나는 밤하늘을 보기 위해 밖으로 나갔다.

 

The sky was full of bright stars.

하늘은 밝은 별들로 가득 차 있었다.

 

I felt like I was in a magical place.

나는 신비한 장소에 있는 것처럼 느꼈다.

 

* During the next three days, Altan showed me around and helped me experience Mongolian culture.

그 후 3일 동안, 알탕은 나에게 구경을 시켜 주었고 몽골 문화를 경험하는 것을 도와주었다.

 

Every moment was fun and exciting, but I had the most fun when I rode a camel in the Gobi Desert.

매 순간이 재미있었고 흥미진진했지만, 고비 사막에서 낙타를 탔을 때 가장 재미있었다.

 

At first, I was scared because the camel was taller than I expected.

처음에는 내가 예상했던 것보다 낙타의 키가 커서 겁을 먹었다.

 

But once I sat on its back, I soon got used to its movement.

그러나 낙타의 등에 앉자마자 나는 곧 낙타의 움직임에 익숙해졌다.

 

From the camel’s back, the view of the desert was truly amazing.

낙타의 등에서 보는 사막의 경치는 정말로 놀라웠다.

 

* My visit to Mongolia was a special experience in many ways.

나의 몽골 방문은 여러 면에서 특별한 경험이었다.

 

It gave me a great chance to get to know my friend’s country and culture.

그것은 나에게 내 친구의 나라와 문화를 알 수 있는 좋은 기회를 주었다.

 

I want to visit Mongolia again someday!

나는 언젠가 몽골을 다시 방문하고 싶다!
