W: Good afternoon, parents. I’m the Daisy Valley Elementary School vice principal, Emily Parker. Thank you for attending our first parent-teacher meeting this school year. Before we start, I have some news to share. We have a plan to open up our playground to the public on weekends from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., starting from the first weekend of next month. Local residents will be able to enjoy our nice facilities, including the soccer field and basketball court. We especially want to give children a safe place to play even when school is out. This plan will also help the school build a healthy relationship with the community. We’re looking forward to seeing our playground filled with the sounds of happy, active children outside the normal school day. Now let’s get into the meeting.

M: Good morning, Riverside Apartment residents. I’m Jeff Burton, the apartment manager. Last weekend, we opened our annual farmers’ market, which will run every Saturday through October in the apartment park. It’s a great place to see familiar friendly faces and support local farmers. But unfortunately, due to the severe weather in the forecast, we’ve decided to cancel this Saturday’s farmers’ market. Heavy storms and strong winds are expected across the area from Friday through the rest of the weekend. Normally the farmers’ market is open rain or shine, but we are worried about everyone’s safety in this weekend’s storm. Let’s all hope the weather will be better next weekend! W: Good evening, Greenville area listeners. I’m Clara Martin from the Greenville City Department of Energy and Environment. As the main landfill in the city is almost full, the city has decided to take immediate action. Apart from encouraging collective efforts among residents to reduce the amount of waste and increase recycling, the city is considering the construction of new landfills. A public hearing on this issue will be held at City Hall at 2 p.m. on April 14. The purpose of this hearing is to provide all residents with the opportunity to present their views on the social, economic, and environmental impacts of this project.
