M: Honey, I’m home. Where’s Olivia?
W: She’s in her room. She has a toothache. I took her to see the dentist a while ago.
M: Oh, no. She must be in pain. Has she taken any medicine?

W: David, you look a little upset. Anything wrong?
M: Yeah. I’ve got so many things to do, Mom. I don’t know how to get everything done in time.
W: Why don’t you try writing down what you have to do and figuring out what you need to do first?
M: Right. I’ll make a list of things to do in order of urgency.

M: Hi, Alice. What are you doing?
W: Hi, Noah. I’m working on a report for one of my classes.
M: What is it about?
W: It’s about my volunteering experience.
M: Interesting. What type of volunteering did you do?
W: I taught young children painting at the community center. I tried to get them interested in the community through painting. I’m now writing about my experience.
M: Oh, great. Are you still volunteering there?
W: Yeah. I go there every Saturday.
M: Sounds like you really like it.
W: Yeah. And I think the kids like to paint.
M: Really? Why do they like it?
W: Well, I think painting can be a great way for them to freely express their feelings.
M: That’s cool. I wonder how you get them to do that through painting.
W: I encourage them to draw anything that comes to mind.

W: Daniel, congratulations on your graduation!
M: Thank you, Professor Pinker.
W: I’m going to miss you a lot. I’ve enjoyed having you in my class.
M: Thanks. I’ve really learned a lot in your classes.
W: I’m happy to hear that. So how do you feel about entering the real world?
M: Honestly, I’m a little afraid. I feel like I’m on my own now.
W: Don’t worry. Everybody finds it a little scary at first.
I was really scared when I was your age.
M: Really? I can’t imagine that.
W: It’s true. But, whenever I experienced difficulties, I always did my best to overcome them and tried to learn lessons afterwards.
M: Wow. That’s very inspiring.
W: Remember, there’s always something to take away from trying experiences.
M: I see. I’ll try to learn from difficulties and make it through hard times.

W: Chris, have you heard the news about Lena?
M: Yes. I talked to her on the phone. She has a problem with her wrist, so she can’t play badminton for about a month.
W: What about the school badminton tournament in two weeks? You and Lena were supposed to play mixed doubles.
M: Yeah, I’m thinking about what to do. I asked if I could change to men’s singles, but they said that’s not possible.
W: Then, could someone else play with you?
M: If I can find another female player before the match, it’s possible.
W: I could play with you.
M: But you’re in women’s singles. If you play in both events, you’ll be physically exhausted.
W: But you won’t be able to play without a partner.
M: Thanks for offering to be my partner, but I know a couple of people who are probably available.
W: Okay then. I’m sure you’ll find someone else to play with.
여: Chris, Lena에 관한 소식 들었니?

W: Hello, everyone. Like most animals, humans sleep at night and are up during the day. However, there are some animals that have unusual sleeping habits. Let’s take a look at some. First, dolphins sleep with
one eye open, alternately shutting down each side of their brain. Amazingly, a study found that dolphins could go without full sleep for at least 15 days and still stay alert. Second, albatrosses spend most of their time in the air flying looking for food below. Many believe that they are able to sleep while in flight, perhaps keeping just enough of their brain awake in order to fly. Third, bats sleep upside down. This creates less competition for sleeping spots, and because their strong claws dig into whatever surface they’re hanging from, they don’t use much energy to hang there. They also have rather weak wings, and so dropping into the air after waking up takes much less effort than pushing off from the ground to start flying. Last, zebras are standing sleepers. They’re able to lock their legs in a straight standing position in such a way that it doesn’t require much effort. Now, here’s a video about these animals.

M: Welcome back to Health & Life! As you know, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If you want to make the most out of your first meal, here is a list of foods you may want to avoid. Smoothies may seem like a great breakfast choice with lots of fruit. However, your smoothie contains a lot of sugar. Besides, as liquid often fails to satisfy your hunger, you may find yourself reaching for more snacks afterwards. Another major sugar bomb is cereal. Starting the day with a high-sugar breakfast cereal will raise your blood sugar levels to a dangerous level. A few hours later, your blood sugar level will go down quickly, and your body will want another snack and you end up overeating. Perhaps the most popular breakfast is a bagel. The truth is, however, that they contain little nutritional value and your body will process what’s left, as sugar. Doughnuts are not good for breakfast, either. Like bagels, doughnuts are loaded with sugar with little nutritional substance. This fried food is also packed with trans-fat and sodium. We’ll be right back in 60 seconds.
