Before we talk about each group’s event idea for that day, I want you to understand the meaning of “up-cycling.”

Can anyone explain up-cycling?

Sumi: Yes. The word “up-cycling” is a combination of “upgrade” and “recycling.”

Eric: Like recycling, up-cycling is good for the environment.

When you up-cycle, you make new and better things from old things.

Blue Jeans Bag

You Need: old blue jeans, sewing kit, scissors, pins and buttons

1. Cut off the legs of the blue jeans.

2. Sew the bottom together.

3. Make shoulder straps from one of the legs.
