A Frog and a Mouse fought about who should rule the swamp they lived in. The clever Mouse, hidden under the grass, made sudden attacks on the frog, taking him at a disadvantage. The Frog was stronger than the Mouse though, and to end the dispute, challenged the Mouse to a duel. The Mouse accepted; each came armed with the sharp point of a reed, each sure of his own success. A Hawk was flying above and saw the little animals so intent on fighting. She swooped down, seized them both in her strong talons, and carried them off to feed her young.
